About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the roles of workers who perform payroll administration and payroll management tasks in a variety of industries. It includes establishing payroll systems and using them to perform sometimes complex tasks, including preparing salary packaging arrangements and additional allowances, processing superannuation payments, and processing employee terminations.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that specialise in financial services. By registering your interest, you will be the first to know when the pathway is open for assessment.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering your interest allows us to gauge demand and accelerate the onboarding of suitable RTO partners. It also ensures you receive priority access to a free skills review once the qualification is active on our platform.
Is RPL the same as completing a payroll course?
No. While a course teaches you new skills, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment of the expertise you have already acquired through your career. It respects your time by not requiring you to study what you already know.
Does this qualification guarantee registration as a BAS agent?
While the Diploma of Payroll Services meets the educational requirements cited by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), registration also requires a specific number of hours of relevant experience. We recommend checking current TPB guidelines for full registration details.
What kind of payroll software experience is required?
Assessors look for evidence that you can establish and maintain payroll systems. This usually involves demonstrating proficiency in modern, STP-compliant software through system reports, configuration notes, or practical demonstrations.
