About This Qualification
This qualification allows for the attainment of competencies in the provision and coordination of complex paralegal services including the supervision of Defence paralegal practitioners. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is RPL the same as studying?
No. Recognition of Prior Learning acknowledges the expertise you have already gained on the job. It is a process of documenting your existing competence rather than repeating training for skills you already possess.
What kind of Defence experience is relevant for this Diploma?
Experience in managing legal matter files, conducting legal research, interpreting military policy, and supervising legal support staff within a Defence environment is highly relevant.
How does the Evidence Portfolio work?
Your consultant will guide you in gathering documents that demonstrate your skills, such as work samples, service records, and references, which are then assessed by a qualified RTO assessor.
What happens if I have gaps in my evidence?
If the RTO assessor identifies areas where your evidence is insufficient, they will provide targeted gap training to ensure you meet the national standard without needing to redo the entire qualification.
