About This Qualification
This qualification reflects the roles of flight crew personnel operating in support of commercial or Defence aviation flight operations. Flight crew duties include applying technical and non-technical aviation skills and knowledge to a wide range of air transport operations, including passenger, charter and cargo operations while operating aeroplanes or helicopters under the instrument flight rules (IFR).
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. Whether achieved through study or recognition of prior learning, the qualification is issued by an RTO and meets the same national standards. It carries equal weight with employers and regulatory bodies like CASA.
Can military flight experience be used as evidence?
Absolutely. Lived expertise gained in the Defence Force is highly valued. Military logbooks, service records, and ratings are excellent forms of evidence for demonstrating competency against the AVI50519 standards.
Will I need to perform a practical flight test?
As part of the formal assessment, an RTO's qualified assessor may require a practical demonstration of your skills, such as a check flight or simulator session, to verify that your evidence aligns with current industry standards.
How does this Diploma interact with my CASA Instrument Rating?
This qualification provides the academic and competency framework required for the rating. While the Diploma is a formal educational outcome, the actual Instrument Rating is a licence privilege granted by CASA following their specific regulatory checks.
