About This Qualification
The PUA30719 Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations) is designed for experienced firefighting professionals who respond to disasters or incidents endangering life, property and the environment. This includes the use of firefighting assets and making informed, timely and confident decisions at an incident as a member of a firefighting team.
Important: RPL It Australia is a student support service. All assessment and qualification issuance is conducted by the delivering Registered Training Organisation. RPL It does not deliver training, conduct assessments, or issue qualifications.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

We are currently in the process of identifying and vetting Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that meet our standards for firefighting recognition. By registering your interest, you will be the first to know when a partner RTO is ready to begin assessments.
Why should I register my interest now?
Registering allows us to keep you informed of progress and ensures we understand the demand for specific firefighting competencies. It also allows us to provide you with an early review of your experience once the pathway is open.
Is RPL the same as completing a training course?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a different form of evidence. It assesses the skills you have already developed through years on the job against national standards, rather than requiring you to repeat training for things you already know.
What kind of evidence will I need to provide?
You will likely need to provide incident logs, training records from your fire service, and evidence of your ability to operate equipment like pumps and breathing apparatus safely under pressure.
Will I need to undergo a practical assessment?
In many firefighting qualifications, a qualified RTO assessor may request a practical demonstration or a professional conversation to verify that your documented experience matches your current technical competency.
What happens if the assessor identifies gaps in my evidence?
If your experience doesn't fully cover all units, the RTO will identify specific areas for gap training. This allows you to complete only the necessary components to achieve the full qualification without starting from scratch.
