Queensland licensing context

Queensland has several major regulators depending on the field. QBCC is central for many building and trade pathways, the Office of Fair Trading covers areas such as security and real estate, and the Blue Card system applies to child-related work. Where a licence or registration depends on holding a nationally recognised qualification, RPL can help experienced workers meet that qualification requirement before they deal with the authority. RPL It does not assess or issue licences. The delivering RTO completes the formal assessment, and the regulator decides the final licence or registration outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions About RPL in Queensland

Can I do RPL from Queensland without visiting a campus?
Yes. The entire RPL process is remote-first. You don't need to visit a campus in Queensland or anywhere else. Evidence is submitted digitally, and assessment is conducted by the delivering RTO based on your portfolio. Some trade licences may require a practical demonstration, but this can usually be arranged at a workplace near you.
Are qualifications the same across all states?
The qualifications themselves are nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework and are identical regardless of your location. However, trade licensing requirements vary by state — Queensland falls under Queensland's licensing authority, and additional requirements may apply beyond the qualification itself.
How long does the RPL process take?
Most candidates who submit a complete evidence portfolio receive their qualification within 4–6 weeks from RTO assessment. The timeline depends on your evidence readiness — if you have strong documentation, the process can move quickly. If there are evidence gaps requiring gap training, it may take longer.
