Recognition of Prior Learning assesses skills you already have against a nationally recognised qualification. Demonstrate competency, and you receive the same nationally recognised qualification, issued by a registered training organisation (RTO), as someone who completed the full course.

We submit your evidence to our partner RTO. Their qualified assessor reviews it against the qualification.
If you’re assessed as competent, the RTO issues your nationally recognised qualification. Most candidates with a complete evidence portfolio receive their outcome within 4–6 weeks of submission to the RTO. This is not a guarantee.

Instead of requiring you to study a qualification, RPL allows you to use what you already know to earn formal qualifications. RPL is especially beneficial for those already in the workforce, making it easier to obtain the credentials needed to advance in your career.
RPL it Australia connects experienced workers with Registered Training Organisations. Our four-step process: 1) Free Skills Review, 2) Evidence portfolio, 3) RTO assessment, 4) Qualification outcome. A partner RTO assesses your evidence and decides whether you meet the qualification requirements.
Anyone with relevant industry experience can apply. You don't need formal qualifications or an apprenticeship — your real-world skills and knowledge are what matter.
RPL pricing depends on the qualification level, complexity, and number of units. Contact our team for a tailored quote. Interest-free payment plans may be available. Your written quote sets out the fees and any payment plan terms before you agree to proceed.
It depends on a few things. What you can influence: how quickly you gather and submit your evidence, and how quickly you respond to requests from RPL it or the RTO’s assessor. What RPL it controls: preparing and submitting a complete, well-organised portfolio to the RTO and following up on your behalf. What the RTO controls: the assessment workload, scheduling and issuing the qualification. As an indication, most of our candidates who submit a complete evidence portfolio receive their outcome within 4–6 weeks of submission to the RTO. This is based on past experience, not a guarantee of your individual timeline. Total time also depends on whether you need gap training for specific units. Your RPL it consultant can give you a more accurate timeline after your free skills review.
