About This Qualification
This qualification covers competencies to select, assemble, set up and test base level fire protection systems in domestic and commercial premises. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL it?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) for this specific qualification. While we cannot facilitate an assessment today, we are actively working to build a pathway for experienced fire protection workers.

Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification earned through recognition of prior learning is issued by a Registered Training Organisation and carries the same national weight as one earned through a classroom. The difference is how your competency is proven; through evidence of experience rather than new learning.
Do I need to be a licensed electrician for this qualification?
No. This Certificate II covers base-level fire alarm servicing and extra-low voltage work. While it is a great entry point into the electrotechnology industry, it does not require a full electrical licence to complete the qualification.
What kind of systems does this qualification cover?
