This qualification reflects the role of individuals such as assistant drillers who undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures.

What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is this qualification currently available through RPL it?
We are currently in the process of establishing partnerships with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) for this specific qualification. While we cannot facilitate an assessment today, registering your interest ensures you are the first to know when the pathway is active.
Why should I register my interest?
Registering allows us to gauge demand and accelerate the partnership process with relevant RTOs. It also places you at the front of the queue for a free skills review once we launch this qualification on our platform.
Is an RPL qualification the same as one from full-time study?
Yes. A qualification earned through Recognition of Prior Learning is issued by a Registered Training Organisation and carries the same national weight as one earned through a classroom. The only difference is the method of assessment.
Does this qualification cover both onshore and offshore roles?
Yes, the Certificate II in Drilling Operations is relevant for entry-level positions in various sectors, including onshore mineral exploration and offshore oil and gas roles like a Rouseabout.
What happens if I have experience in a specific type of drilling?
The qualification allows for elective units that reflect specific drilling methods, such as diamond core or mud rotary. During the evidence gathering phase, we will guide you in selecting the units that best align with your actual work history.
