What Is Recognition of Prior Learning?
Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal assessment process that evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience you have gained through your career against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
You gather relevant workplace evidence and a qualified assessor from the delivering Registered Training Organisation evaluates that evidence. If the assessor determines every competency requirement is met, the RTO issues the qualification.

Is RPL the same as studying the course?
The qualification issued is identical to one earned through study. The difference lies in the evidence: RPL recognises the expertise you have already developed through years of undercover work, whereas study is designed to teach those skills from scratch.
How is the sensitivity of my work history handled?
We understand the nature of undercover operations. The RPL process is built on respect for confidentiality, and we work with you to ensure that evidence can be presented in a way that demonstrates competency without compromising operational security.
What if my experience is from several years ago?
RPL requires evidence of current competency. While your foundational experience is vital, the assessor will look for evidence that you have maintained your skills and are up to date with current operational standards and legislative requirements.
